Sometimes it's the little things…

It's in the details, the little bit of extra care, the tiny things that don't always seem to matter…sometimes they bring the biggest impact and pull everything together! Sometimes they are temporary, sometimes they stay forever, and both are okay. Enjoy the details, embrace them.

I'm am so happy it's finally warming up around here and there are buds on the trees and the flowers are making their appearance. Nature is so simple, so carefree, and yet has such an effect on how a space feels, whether outside or inside. I love the changing seasons. Our connection to the outdoors has such an effect on our well-being. It's important to consider this in any design or decorating you take on.

One way to really pull a room together, or give it a fresh feel is with fresh flowers. It doesn't have to be an elaborate arrangement, it doesn't have to be expensive. Sometimes simple is best. Cut some flowers from your garden, put them in a vase and enjoy. So simple. In fact it doesn't even have to be a vase, find anything that will hold water. In this case I used part of a cream and sugar set. By the way, these flowers also smell amazing! It makes the whole house feel clean, fresh and happy. It took next to no time, it won't last forever, and that's okay. There is something wonderful about change.

Did you notice the cute hooks in the background? 1.2.3. Very functional and practical, very simple, and they look great! It's understated, they do not demand attention, but they still add something. They tell part of a story, a family lives here, this is a working house ready to serve the occupants.

Sometimes the simple little things are the best things. Take time to smell flowers, notice the details, appreciate them, but don't stress about them.

And... Happy Mother's Day to all the Mama's out there!
