Cabin Project - Georgian Bay
When it came to designing our Georgian Bay cabin project, we knew right away that we wanted someone who was going to be able to work with us in a personal, professional manner. Jen was a natural choice! She was an excellent communicator, was always easy to reach, and had realistic input when we worked through our off grid concepts. Jen was very efficient, she had preliminary drawings to us quickly, which allowed us to review our ideas together. She was patient when working through revisions producing a quality set of prints for us to work from. We would highly recommend using Jen for a project of any size.

Island Cottage - Georgian Bay
I hired Jen to completely redesign my Georgian Bay island cottage. We had one chance to get out to the site before winter. Jen was able to take complete measurements and prepared the drawings so we were ready for an early spring start. She came up with a new design that I was very satisfied with. After seeing her work on the main cottage I also hired her to design my bunkie. My contractors had no problem building to her specifications as her construction drawings were extremely comprehensive and easy to follow. Throughout the entire project she was always easy to get a hold of and helpful. I am more than happy to recommend working with Jen.

Cottage Renovation - Healey Lake
Jennifer helped us develop drawings for converting our garage to living space at our cottage. We had an idea of what we wanted - a laundry room, 3 piece bathroom, family room, and storage. We had been struggling with the design for a couple years and had met with one other architect before we met Jennifer. She came out to the site and we discussed what we were looking for and the issues that we were grappling with. She immediately had ideas on how to solve the challenges, took measurements and came back with a drawing in short order. We were extremely pleased with the drawing and only made a couple very minor changes. We then asked her for help choosing decor and colours for the space. She came back with decor choices and colours, prices and links to " where to buy". We liked the choices she made and have implemented them in the space. It is clear that Jennifer is not only a great designer, but also understands construction. When the framers were in working on the site one of them asked who had designed the space, because whoever did this really thought things out!
We enjoyed working with Jennifer:
- she was very knowledgeable about the building code,
- we had no issues getting the drawing approved,
- she was helpful when we had questions
- she listened well and came back with solutions that addressed our concerns
- her choices on the decor suited the space and our taste

I am contractor in the Wahwashkesh lake area. Over the years its been a bit of a struggle finding a qualified person to do design work for my clients. I am so pleased to work with Jen at North Country Design and Build. I have referred a number of my clients to her and she has reliably provided drawings in a timely fashion. Jen has been very easy to work with and can accommodate changes in plans smoothly. She will meet you on site so she gets a feel for what's there and what your hopes are for your project. Electrical Plan Recommendation
I highly recommend to all my customers that they meet with Jen and have an electrical plan drawn up. Having a plan down on paper is a great visual for the customer as well as the trades working on the project. Jen is easy to talk to and she is great at getting people thinking about what they want before the work starts, and that saves everybody time and money. My wife and I have had Jen draw up our last three projects, and with me being a contractor, a good plan helps organize the project plus it makes my wife think we may actually get something done!

New Home - Mill Lake
Jen helped us design our new house. We had found a general outline that inspired us but had so many changes and additions that our project manager suggested someone like Jen to help us make it work. We felt her price was more than fair and she was very prompt in getting back to us with the design and changes. What we very much appreciated was her ability to hear what our ideas were, what it was we were striving for and then designing that for us. She did not try to change our ideas to fit her style but was straight forward when one of our proposals simply wasn't feasible. We would come up with wishes for how the house would function and she would make that happen on paper. On one occasion we asked for a significant change in layout upstairs but had no idea how to make that work with the space downstairs. Jen made an excellent suggestion of adding a downstairs mudroom that made the change fit well and suits our lifestyle and I continue to be pleased with the idea of that room. She created a design that flows beautifully with how we expect to live day to day in our final home. We have felt very confident in Jen and her advice and skill. We are happy and relieved to have her expertise on board for us.

Deck Reconstruction - Lake Manitouwabing
After tearing down my ageing deck and finding structural issues the building inspector said I would require a Qualified Designer BCIN (Building Code Identification Number) certified. A local building supply company recommended North Country Design & Build. I emailed Jen about my issues and she visited. Jen made drawings for what I envisioned in a new deck and made helpful suggestions. She is a pleasant and knowledgeable designer that I would call for my next project or recommend to others for theirs.

Cottage Addition - Wahwashkesh Lake
Jen Schwindt was strongly recommended to us by Tim Stiles. From our initial telephone conversation to the sign off of our drawings for an addition of 1,000 sq. feet to our existing cottage, as well as incorporating changes to the existing structure, she was very professional, knowledgeable and personable. After the initial 2 hour visit, she was able to produce plans that surpassed our expectations. In a very timely manner, Jen was able to incorporate several changes, offer alternative suggestions ultimately delivering excellent drawings.
